West coast Grand Wagoneer. 84,000 original miles, extensive recent service including rebuilt engine, transmission, new A/C, 4-wheel disc brakes, aluminum heads, fuel injection, and more. Runs and drives extremely well, everything works, ready to go! In recent years, few vehicles have out-performed their peers more than the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. As Jeep’s first volley into the luxury SUV wars, it was often compared to Range Rovers and Toyota Land Cruisers when it was new. Today it enjoys a strong following made up of enthusiasts who were there and a new generation of buyers who just dig its old-school 4×4 dirt cred. It remains one of the most successful blends of old-school American luxury with off-road capabilities ever created and thanks to modern technology, SUVs like this handsome Saddle Tan Grand Wagoneer remain as appealing as ever. Thanks to two rounds of rather extensive service work, this one remains in outstanding condition today. The paint is in such good condition that we have to believe it has been repainted—there’s a deep shine and a surprising gloss that wasn’t standard equipment at AMC in 1986. The woodgrained “Dynoc” panels are most definitely newer and in excellent shape, with original fiberglass trim around them that’s holding up nicely. It certainly captures the “woody” look Jeep was aiming for when they built the Grand Wagoneer. Nice chrome trim adds an upscale feel, and it, too, is beautifully preserved with the bumpers, grille, and window surrounds showing extremely well. The only real demerits we can find are a few cracks in the lighter fiberglass “wood” surrounds, but nothing that warrants replacement. If you are looking for a Grand Wagoneer that’s been loved, this is it. The tan leather and cloth interior is just beautiful, with minimal signs of use and no damage to any of the seating surfaces. Even the driver’s seat shows none of the usual scuffing or cracks that are an inevitable part of regular usage—the seats are very, very nice. The leather-wrapped wheel is a bit discolored but not damaged or torn, and this seems to be a common malady among Grand Wagoneers. All the gauges are fully operational and the A/C system has been recently rebuilt so it works quite well. In fact, everything works except the cruise control, which was necessarily disabled when the fuel injection was installed (more on that in a moment). There’s also a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo system that sounds quite good thanks to new speakers and the control unit for the Holley Sniper EFI system sits neatly on the center console. Of course, everything was standard including power windows and locks.
