By 1970, the Chevelle had already captured Chevy enthusiasts hearts and this years design and performance changes enhanced their love for the model. The 70 model year saw an edgier body introduced with a more squared-up stance in contrast with the curves of the 69 year-model. Enhancing the SS option, Chevelle owners saw increased offerings that came with the SS badge. Buyers could choose from a 396 or 454 cubic inch V8. The SS received a “power dome” hood, black accented grill and rear bumper insert. The sport wheels on the SS where equipped with wide-oval tires. There was no doubt with the introduction of 70 Chevelle SS that this car would become a legend. This 70 Chevelle SS is powered by a matching numbers 454ci/450hp LS6 V8. The result of a frame-off restoration, we acquired this car from a large private collection where the car had sat on display for some time. We immediately had the exterior stripped and repainted in order to bring the exterior to the standard of the rest of the car.
